Welcome! My name is Lina and I am a Registered Social Worker, Psychotherapist based in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. I support children, teens, families, and couples with social, emotional, relationship, and behavioural challenges.
Life is all about relationships; our relationship with ourselves, our parents, our partners, children, friends, neighbors, colleagues, etc. Relationships often bring us joy, purpose and meaning in life but can also be the source of feelings of anger, sadness, grief, worry and disappointment. I am here to help support you with the various relationships in your life and to help you feel more happy and fulfilled.
My approach to therapy is to provide individuals with a respectful, direct, warm, non-judgemental space where they can share any challenges they are facing.
I have a Bachelors of Science in Psychology, a Bachelor of Education, a Masters of Social Work from University of Toronto.
My journey:
I initially went to teacher’s college wanting to support children in their learning. During my time at schools, I noticed the need children had for one-on-one connection and their need for mental health supports. That motivated me to pursue my Masters of Social Work Degree.
My first job was to work with adults with neurodiversity to help them find and secure jobs. Working with neurodiverse folks sparked an interest in me in learning more and supporting neurodiverse individuals .
I took the knowledge I gained about neurodiversity and worked for a children’s mental health agency supporting children and their families. Many of the children I work with had OCD symptoms. We would often refer those kids out because no one had the knowledge to support those children. This drove me to train and learn more about supporting children, teens, and adults with OCD.
When working with children and their families, I often worked with parents doing parent coaching. Many of the sessions turned into couples therapy and I found myself enjoying improving the couple’s communication and their relationship with each other. This is what led me to do more training in couples counselling techniques.
I am passionate about the work that I do and I believe that everyone should get the mental health supports they need and deserve.
Personal life
I am a mom to two beautiful girls. I enjoy reading, going on hikes, spending time with my family, and expanding my knowledge to continue to improve myself and provide the most up to date treatments and knowledge to my clients.
